In 1989, after being hired by a national temporary help firm in Dallas, TX, I began my training in the career of human resources. Working with contractors, manufacturing companies, transportation, new construction, emergency services, restoration, distribution, mass marketing, sanitation, event staffing, clerical, and administrative companies, I was able to see first hand the tasks that were to be performed and learned the expectations behind them. In seeing these various industries, I was able to meet with thousands of people looking for work and connect people daily into jobs.

What wealth I have gained in hands on experience communicating with people!

My thoughts of opening a professional organization became a reality with the opening of Akamai Employment Agency, blessed with the name Akamai, which in Hawaiian means "Smart".
Smart comes from hands on experience and diligent research. There have been many lessons learned in the areas of employment laws, hiring practices, safety, details, expectations, abilities, and overall professionalism in my career, especially in a thriving atmosphere of the Dallas / Ft. Worth Metroplex, later on in Las Vegas, and finally here in Hawai`i.

Moving forward, I turned my "I" into "We" with the hiring of Alvina Kaiwi-Robidoux as Corporate Vice-President, Cindy Burnett as Corporate Bookkeeper, Kathy Vares as Maui Sales Manager/Job Coordinator, Ari Souza as Benefits Manager, and Marzale Dung as Maui Office Assistant. On O‘ahu, Sunya Nardo as Branch Manager, Maryjay Ka‘aihue as Kunia Satellite Manager, Raenette Kuhaulua and Nora Tuiolemotu as Job Coordinators. On Kaua‘i, Kalani Santos as Kaua‘i Branch Manager, Napuanani McKeague as Kekaha Satellite Manager, and Monique Perriera as Job Coordinator.

As a team, we have many goals and solid ideas set for the company's growth and prosperity. The first and foremost agreed upon goal is to promote the industry through quality service and good business practices. Providing both the client and the employee with a commitment to excellent service.

To stay alive in Hawai‘i, I believe we must diversify our scope of services while customizing the needs of our clients. Recruiting over the Internet is the course of the future. So continue to view our web site, as it will be updated regularly.

In addition to technical efforts to recruit we are involving ourselves in working with the high schools, city colleges and the universities to recruit the up and coming stars. We are committed to working with other organizations as well, and are proponents of the Women in Technology program and Workforce Development. Helping local people find the work that they need to be able to stay in Hawai‘i, and local businesses find the talent they so need for their companies to thrive, is what we are all about.
